African Heritage Month (NSCC)

Nahom Assefa helped organize the African Heritage Month celebration at the NSCC Ivany Campus, highlighting African culture through art, music, food, and storytelling.

The event featured inspiring speakers (Jayne Laura Akinyi, Adegoke Fadare, Muyideen Soluade, MBA), live performances, African cuisine, a limbo show, and an art gallery that included several of Nahom’s pieces.

The gallery remained on display for weeks after, accompanying events like choir practices, Sylvia D. Hamilton, an award-winning African Nova Scotian director, screening her documentary and praising Nahom’s Artworks, and community milestones on campus.
